Academic Excellence - Montessori Philosophy
Dr Maria Montessori was born in 1870 in Italy and dedicated her life to the education of children. The basic principle in Montessori Method is that the learning capacity of the young mind is great. She calls this "absorbent Mind". By the age of three the child has already laid the foundations of his/her personality as a human being. This is why it is crucial for young children to be able to learn by exploration and discovering in a prepared environment.
A Montessori classroom will invite and let the child learn by providing learning materials to help them develop into confident, capable, competent and compassionate individuals. It is scientifically proven that by the young age of six whatever brain cells (synapses) that are not utilized will eventually fade out of the human mind.
